The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (http://www.mae.usu.edu/) at Utah State University (USU) invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or closely related fields. Candidates will be considered at either the assistant or associate professor level. The positions are tenure-track academic year (funded for 9-months) appointments with an anticipated start date of August 2024.
Candidates are sought with demonstrated expertise in general areas of astrodynamics, rendezvous and proximity operations, space domain awareness, small satellites, space mission and trajectory design, and spacecraft dynamics, guidance, and navigation.
The Engineering Education Department (EED) at Utah State University seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level. This is a nine-month academic-year appointment with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2024.
Candidates must have earned a doctorate in an engineering discipline, engineering education, cognitive science, education, or psychology by the start of the appointment. Candidates must also have a B.S. and M.S. in an engineering discipline. The ideal candidates are expected to demonstrate potential to develop a strong and externally funded research program in engineering education, a track record of peer-reviewed publications, potential or record of teaching competency at both graduate and undergraduate levels, and evidence of professional leadership skills.
Post-doctoral and/or teaching experience is highly desirable.
The Department of Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences (ADVS) at Utah State University (USU) is seeking applicants for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Dairy Cattle Nutrition who will contribute to the Research (60%), Teaching (35%), and Service (5%) missions of the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences (CAAS). The candidate is expected to develop an innovative, extramurally funded, nationally recognized research program that utilizes both basic and applied research methods to address knowledge gaps and critical needs in dairy cattle nutrition. The candidate’s research program will be strengthened by and will contribute to a strong research base in animal nutrition and related basic sciences within CAAS and throughout USU. The successful candidate should be prepared to establish an independent research enterprise promptly and obtain robust funding support from state, federal, or private entities.
The successful candidate's research program should help improve the efficiency and sustainability of animal production systems in the Intermountain West while also answering mechanistic questions related to dairy cattle nutrition and production. This faculty member will have the opportunity for extensive collaboration with other scientists in the ADVS department conducting research in reproductive physiology, growth biology, animal health, and genetics/epigenetics. Additionally, there are opportunities for collaboration across CAAS and the university, as well as within the two USDA-ARS research stations (forage and range research laboratory and poisonous plants research laboratory) located on the Logan campus.
Excellence in teaching is highly valued at USU. The successful candidate will be expected to teach ADVS courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. These courses will be determined based on the department's needs and the successful applicant's expertise. The candidate will be expected to recruit and mentor graduate students in dairy nutrition and will be encouraged to provide students with opportunities in USU’s highly successful undergraduate research program.
The candidate will also be expected to be involved in service activities for the department, college, and university as well as external opportunities at the national and international level within their field.

Utah State University’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) invites applications to fill a tenure track faculty position in structural engineering, with an emphasis on earthquake engineering. It is expected that this position will be filled at the Assistant or Associate Professor level; however, outstanding candidates will be considered at all levels. Applicants should have expertise in one or more of the following areas related to structural earthquake engineering: large-scale experimental testing, hybrid simulation, high performance computing, numerical modeling, performance-based earthquake engineering, community resilience, seismic assessment of complex infrastructure systems under compound earthquake and climatic hazards, probabilistic seismic hazard analyses and loss modeling, seismic retrofitting and rehabilitation, non-destructive evaluation, and soil-structure interaction. Professional registration and prior academic or practical experience are also desirable.
Utah State University (USU) recently received $2.5M from the Utah legislature to initiate formation of the Utah Earthquake Engineering Center. This tenure-track position in structural earthquake engineering represents USU’s commitment to support the center, and the hired faculty member will be involved in selecting, installing, and operating the new equipment and facilities for the center. The structural engineering group at USU includes five tenured/tenure-track faculty with research interests in: infrastructure resiliency, earthquake engineering, fire engineering, multi-hazard (natural and human) risk assessment, low-carbon construction materials, and non-destructive testing and evaluation. The CEE Department also has unique experimental equipment and facilities, such as the Systems, Materials, and Structural Health (SMASH) Laboratory, which contribute to cutting-edge studies both in the laboratory and in the field. The successful applicant will contribute significantly to both the research and teaching efforts within the department and across the broader university community.

The Data Analytics and Information Systems (DAIS) Department in the Jon M. 4-H After School is a grant funded program designed to help youth enjoy enriching club activities in out of school time. Club leaders instruct groups of youth through various curriculum over the school year.

The site coordinator will oversee the afterschool program at a school in Kearns. They will work with educators, parents, and students in Kindergarten to 8th grade. The successful applicant will work up to 25 hours a week implementing afterschool work and inputting data to illustrate grant success. The site coordinator will be the primary liaison between families and the afterschool program.

The Utah Manufacturing Extension Service at Utah State University is seeking individuals to help with the onboarding of new and current Utah manufacturers. This will include helping manufacturers register, create, and update their individual and company profiles, along with training them in how to use CONNEX™ UTAH. Individuals will also help manufacturers in their search for new supply chain opportunities along with the ability to perform outreach and marketing services to other suppliers. The Family Resident Assistant (RA) is a full-time student single parent or spouse team (of which at least one spouse is a full-time student) who lives among, and interacts with, their peers in FHC. The RA is a member of the Residence Life Staff and actively participates in the development of a comprehensive Residence Life program. The RA is appointed for a specific contract year. Individuals should not apply for or accept a position if they cannot commit to the entire or remaining contract year (RAs should only give notice to leave at the end of each semester or summer). Reappointment is contingent upon successful job performance, requisite academic progress, favorable supervisory review by applicable professional staff, and the on-going needs of the overall Housing system.
The RA position, due to its live-in nature, requires willingness to be called into service at any time of the day or night in order to meet residents' needs as they arise. The Housing Custodian will help students succeed by providing a clean, sanitary, and comfortable living environment.

This position will work on a number of projects directed by an Extension faculty in Salt Lake County with the primary purpose of providing educational opportunities for youth, parents, and families designed to build resilience and prevent problem behaviors in youth.
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Utah State University invites applications from outstanding candidates for a tenure-track position in organic chemistry at the Assistant Professor level estimated to start in August of 2024. The successful applicant will develop an externally funded research program in organic chemistry; preference will be given to applicants with research interests that complement existing research in the department. Applicants must have earned a PhD in Chemistry or a closely related discipline; postdoctoral experience in experimental organic chemistry is preferred. USU Eastern Upward Bound seeks a site coordinator who is sensitive to educational, economic, social and cultural diversities unique to Upward Bound students. The site coordinator will be located within GRAND COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL and will work with Upward Bound students during and/or after school.
The advisor will help to identify students who meet UB eligibility criteria, especially those who are low-income, first-generation, those who have potential for completing high school and entering postsecondary education, and those who are considered higher risk. They will also help determine if the student has the motivation or interest in improving his/her academics, and willingness to pursue a postsecondary degree.
The Site Coordinator will provide supplemental support services, such as academic advisement, career guidance, financial aid counseling, tutoring, and other motivational and intervention strategies. They will ensure that participants are familiar with educational opportunities and aware of financial aid and scholarship options. They will help with all necessary applications.
The UB advisor will be expected to become personally familiar with each participant, know and understand his/her academic and non-academic needs, and exert every effort to help the participant find satisfactory solutions leading to success. Counseling support will continue throughout the duration of time the participant is enrolled.
UB coordinators and school counselors will collaborate to ensure that academic, motivational, career guidance, and college planning needs of participants are met. They will work closely with teachers, counselors and administrators in tracking student needs and progress.
