The Student Media team in the Student Involvement & Leadership office is accepting applications for an Office Assistant. This is a part-time, hourly position. The Office Assistant will assist with the day-to-day operations of Student Media. The position requires organizational skills and the successful candidate needs to be able to work independently and be a team player.   Student Media is constantly changing, which will impact this position. Because of this, we are looking for someone who is flexible and able to pivot quickly. A successful candidate must be willing to help where needed and learn a variety of skills. This position will work roughly 20 hours per week between 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. mid-August through April, hours during summer may be more flexible.

The Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department at Utah State University seeks applicants for two full-time academic year Professional Practice Assistant Professor positions (non-tenure track, open rank). These positions have an anticipated start date of Fall 2021. The primary responsibilities are developing and teaching application-based graduate-level courses in mechanical engineering. Duties include instruction and curriculum development in the master level composite materials and structures engineering, or other relevant mechanical engineering courses as assigned by the department head. In addition, the successful candidates will help the department develop a Master Program in Composite Materials Engineering as part of the Center for Advanced Composite Materials and Structures. Two Undergraduate Technicians are needed to evaluate a water resources exhibit named Decisions Downstream at the Natural History Museum of Utah. The Technicians will conduct surveys with museum visitors to evaluate their experience and understanding of water resources decision-making. Students will be trained to administer surveys to museum visitors.   Successful applicants should have an interest in or willingness to learn about art-science exhibits, general public education, public surveys for external evaluation, and/or water resources decision-making.   Additional desired skills include: valid Utah driver’s license to perform essential job responsibilities, such as driving university vehicles and transporting materials, the ability to work independently, and a friendly demeanor with the public. The position consists of 50% research, 40% teaching, and 10% service, to start August 1, 2022.   The appointed faculty member will develop an externally-funded research program that achieves both a national and international reputation for research and graduate training in the field of terrestrial ecosystem ecology. We are particularly interested in candidates who leverage an understanding of biotic and abiotic processes to scale from plots to landscapes, regions and continents or from individual organisms to higher levels of biological organization. Research areas of interest to the Department include, but are not limited to, the following ecological elements: carbon cycling, biogeochemistry, ecosystem modeling, disturbance and land cover shifts, and trophic interactions. The Utah State University Extension 4-H in Salt Lake City is placing 50 refugee youth into summer internship work. 40 refugee youths with a wage of $10.00 an hour for internship work and 10 youths from past internship to move into leadership roles to mentor other youth in the program and receive a wage of $10.50 per hour.   The Interns will be placed closely to their choice of selection of job interest from their initial application form. The youths will be placed in employers such as after school programs, community centers, libraries, recreation departments, senior centers and other related work places.   Each employer will have different job responsibilities and job policies the interns will need to follow.
