The Utah State University (USU) Extension Create Better Health (SNAP-ED) program is a comprehensive program that helps low-income individuals and families by providing direct education on basic nutrition, cooking skills, and physical activity to youth and adults both online and face-to-face (as situations allow); collaborates with community partners to improve healthy food access and physical activity opportunities within communities (PSE work); provides outreach and education through social media platforms.   USU Extension Create Better Health program in Box Elder is seeking a qualified individual to work part-time (20 hours per week depending on available grant funding) providing complementary elements of the program (mentioned above). Reporting program progress and impacts is an essential part of this work. Familiarity with SNAP procedures and local community food distribution sites is desirable. Successful applicants will be required to recruit agencies they partner with, recruit clients they teach, and follow federal guidelines. SNAP-Ed is a grant funded program and adherence to policies, protocols and procedures are essential. Continuation of employment is based upon need, performance and available funding (funding is grant funded). Requires regular travel within assigned county and district. An important aspect of this work is learning what these communities need to help them adapt to climate change and improve their local environment.   General Description: Coordinate education, research and stewardship projects and continuing education with Latinx and Indigenous volunteers. Assist in the development of educational events and public involvement that serve Latinx and Indigenous residents in Grand and San Juan Counties and engage them as volunteer educators.   This is a 15 to 20 hour per week position, from January 3, 2022-August 31, 2022, with a possibility for an additional year and growth in the position. The position is housed with USU Moab and will primarily entail working from home. Weekends and weeknight work will occasionally be required. Transportation will occasionally be required, and travel reimbursement is provided.

The Utah State University Extension 4-H in Salt Lake City is placing 50 refugee youth into summer internship work. 40 refugee youths with a wage of $10.00 an hour for internship work and 10 youths from past internship to move into leadership roles to mentor other youth in the program and receive a wage of $10.50 per hour.   The Interns will be placed closely to their choice of selection of job interest from their initial application form. The youths will be placed in employers such as after school programs, community centers, libraries, recreation departments, senior centers and other related work places.   Each employer will have different job responsibilities and job policies the interns will need to follow.
